Raising Hope is a sitcom created by Greg Garcia that airs on Fox. Garcia previously created the quirky show, My Name is Earl. Now in season two, it follows the trials and tribulations of the impoverished Chance family and their efforts to raise the family's newest edition, Hope. Jimmy Chance becomes a single parent after a one-night-stand with a serial killer and her subsequent execution. Jimmy lives with his parents (Martha Plimpton and Garret Dillahunt) and great-grandmother (Cloris Leachman), who suffers from dementia.

Critics have received the show well, comparing it favorably to Malcolm in the Middle. Despite low ratings, Fox showed faith in the show by giving it an early renewal for its second season. This faith paid off with Emmy nominations for Plimpton (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series) and Leachman (Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series).

Raising Hope opens its second season on September 20 and airs on Tuesday nights on Fox.
